I think autumn is a great time to travel around Europe. The heat is already asleep, cities are filled with new colors, residents of European countries are returning from summer vacations and it is very interesting to watch them. So traveling to Europe in early October, in different cities, it is different: somewhere warm, almost summer, and sometimes quite rainy autumn.
And now I propose to move to another part of the continent and get acquainted with the heritage of the Austro-Hungarian Empire: Budapest

Crossing the Ukrainian-Hungarian border, you do not immediately realize that you have come to another, parallel world. Only by paying attention to the large number of well-kept gardens and fields do you begin to suspect a change. Hungary is surrounded on all sides by mountains. Due to this, the average temperature here is 2 degrees higher than that of its neighbors. Hungarians - the people are enterprising and not lazy, with the benefit of natural advantages: they grow a lot of crops: corn, sunflowers, grapes, apples.
Several centuries of being part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire had its influence, but it can be said to be minimal. Hungarians are a very patriotic people who value their language and culture. They, like many nations around the world, wanted to separate themselves from their older brother and be independent, which they successfully achieved (though it should be mentioned that Austria lives much richer).

Interesting facts: Hungary is 10 times smaller than Ukraine; the only major city in the country is the capital - Budapest - with a population of 2 million.

Features of the language.
Hungarian or Hungarian is part of the Ugro-Finnish group. And here let me, as a philologist, dwell in more detail. Where is the Finnish in this group, you ask? And here is where: in these languages ​​one common ancestor is the Ural language family. It was from the Urals in the 9-10 centuries. not. The Hungarian tribes moved to the Middle Danube plain.

For knowing a few European languages, it will be almost impossible to understand Hungarian. It is officially one of the most difficult and rare in the world. The presence of 17 grammatical differences is therefore confirmed!
But for a tourist to win the sympathy of the locals, it is worth learning a couple of phrases:

Budapest - light in the middle of the night at a price of 12 million euros
Budapest is great at night! The bridges connecting the banks of the Danube and located in the central part of the historic buildings are exposed in the evening with bright yellow light. The city itself is very attractive, but thanks to this radiance it makes it even more fabulous for thirsty beautiful species tourists. And all is not easy: a few years ago, the city authorities did not stint and spent 12 million euros to illuminate the center of the capital! This is probably why the night illumination of Budapest is called one of the best in the world.
Budapest is the second Paris
I am glad I visited Budapest in the evening. People scurry through the center confidently divided into 2 categories: those who get into a noisy pub and have fun in the morning ...

... and those who sit down with friends on the street in a cafe or just on the side of a fountain and sip high-quality glasses of wine - magically ...

Hungarian goulash.
Hungarian cuisine is quite varied; dishes that smell like a thousand condiments, you will not call dietetic - they are very satisfying and delicious. Probably the most famous in our country is Hungarian bograch or goulash, widespread in the western regions of Ukraine (of course, in a slightly adapted form). There is no single recipe for goulash, everywhere - in cafes, restaurants, fast food, in the kitchens of ordinary people - it is different. Combine all this multicolor, but rather - raznovkusie, two unchanged ingredients - meat (usually beef) and paprika.
The first subway in continental Europe
Hungarians are a proud people, they really have something to brag about to other nations. For example, in Budapest there is the oldest subway in continental Europe (previously the subway appeared only in London, but Budapest does not like to mention it). The M1 line was opened in 1896, passing under one of the city's central avenues and highlighted by the presence of yellow fences at the entrance.
Payment for roads.
Roads, like most European countries, have tolls. But with a small feature: there are no fixed payment points in Hungary. You need to buy special electronic vignettes that automatically deduct money.

Hungary is an unusual country, I will definitely come here again, but for a longer time, and I will surely look not only at the capital and try not only bograch.
