Autumn is in full swing, and with it the good weather, so we decided to inspire you to visit neighboring Lower Austria, which directly invites you to discover the story. In addition to the most famous Schloss Hof Castle, this federal land also offers some of the world's historic rarities, which we will gradually introduce to you in the following lines.
Not too long ago, we visited the Augustinian Klosterneuburg Monastery, which has been around the most precious treasures of sacred art in Austria for almost 900 years. Through various thematic excursions you can get acquainted with the rare cultural heritage and history of the monastery. Klosterneuburg is also the oldest winery in Austria with many baroque wine cellars in the dungeon. Probably the most interesting part of the monastery is the treasury, where, among other exhibits, is also the Zemsky Crown of the Duchy of Austria. In autumn, there are various events related to tasting local monastery wine. Not visiting this place would be a shame.

A little farther from the place of Horn is the Renaissance Rosenburg Castle with its medieval center, beautiful Renaissance arcades, thirteen towers and a large courtyard. Due to this architecture, it is considered to be a perfect example of a fortress that has gradually evolved over the centuries. Rosenburg Castle can also be visited individually. Enough to download the audio guide, and you can embark on a journey that gives you an idea of ​​what life in the Middle Ages might look like. Historic furniture and weapons, as well as wrought-iron items used in ancient times, are displayed in separate rooms. The surroundings of the castle give a definitive look to the impeccably decorated gardens, which especially in the autumn have a special charm.

If you think Rosenburg Castle is far away, we recommend that you visit one of the largest and most magnificent aristocratic residences in the Habsburg Monarchy - Hof Castle. He now offers an overview of the ceremonial rooms and private rooms of Prince Eugene of Savoy and Empress Maria Theresa, or a masterfully designed baroque garden, divided into seven terraces. Part of the castle is also the castle farmyard "Mayerhofen".
If you love castles, be sure to visit the ruins of Aggstein Castle, 300 meters above the Danube, which was the residence of the Kunring aristocratic family in the 12th century, and in the 15th century there were robbery knights. Aggstein with his "rose garden" is surrounded by many legends. If you go straight to this "Eagle's Nest", you will be rewarded with beautiful views of the surrounding area. In addition to the panorama, you can watch the exhibition about the Nibelungs or enjoy a knight's feast at the castle restaurant.

Finally, we would like to draw your attention to the recently renovated Cartesian monastery in the lower Austrian village of Hamming (the largest and one of the oldest in Central Europe). For more than 452 years, Cartesian monks, also called "white monks," lived here. During its heyday, it was one of the richest monasteries in Austria and the spiritual center of the whole region. The most significant attractions include the church, the baroque library with baroque frescoes by Wenzel Lorenz Rainer and the prelate hall with an impressive stucco ceiling.
Equally exciting for you is the overview of the Heiligenkroutsso Abbey, the oldest Cistercian monastery in Austria, located in the south of Wienerwald, just 15 km from Vienna. The monastery was founded in 1133. From an architectural point of view, it is a unique building in which the elements of Gothic, Romanticism and Baroque are combined in absolute harmony. Interestingly, in 2008, local young monks became famous throughout the world for their Gregorian choruses (CD "Chant - Music for Paradise").
