The pearl of the Ukrainian steppe is Kherson region

The steppe region of Ukraine is a place where heaven and earth unite and form a holistic picture formed by the vast expanses of nature. The real value of this part of our country is the unique Kherson region. Nature, sea and architecture play a significant role in attracting tourists, and the recreational area, no worse than the famous world resorts, has all the conditions for a wonderful holiday. For an interesting and rational weekend or short vacation, we offer several noteworthy places that will not leave you indifferent and fall in love with your home country.
The Black Sea steppe is known for Scythian mounds, which have survived to this day, as a monument to the nomads who inhabited the Ukrainian lands in the 7-3 centuries. BC The largest of the mounds is Oguz, which looks like a hill, which is actually the tomb of a descendant of the Scythian king Atheus. The place is considered rich, as the excavations were crowned with numerous valuable finds that complement the collections of the Hermitage and the National Museum of Jewels. An interesting fact is that the values of the mound provoked a real gold rush among the population in 1901.

On the territory of Kherson region there is a magnificent oasis of nature - the reserve "Askania Nova". By the way, did you know that it is the oldest biosphere reserve on the planet, just think about these words, and it is the largest steppe reserve in Europe. The impressive size of the area occupied by the reserve, which is 33 thousand hectares, is inhabited by 500 species of plants and about three thousand different animals. But for the tourist the main thing is not the numbers and facts and the real feelings that he can get by contacting wildlife. Animals are allowed to touch and pet on the territory of the reserve. Agree, in such moments the feelings overflow and leave a pleasant imprint in the memory.

Another unique place of Kherson region is Arabatska Strelka - a narrow sandy spit with a length of 113 km. It separates the Sea of Azov and Lake Sivash, which is known for its atypical pink color of the water. The landscape there is not just beautiful, but incredible. In addition, Arabatskaya Strelka is a recreational area and on its territory there are boarding houses, health camps, recreation centers and houses for rent by tourists.

Lake Sivash is a shallow bay of the Sea of Azov, divided by many peninsulas, capes, islands, which form a kind of labyrinth with incredible shapes. The lake is too salty and therefore salt has penetrated into the soil, forming in the nasal areas salt marshes and salt marshes. The uniqueness of Lake Sivash is added by mineral mud, salt, endemic vegetation and rare animals. All this in the complex makes it just a necessary object for a tour.

The uninhabited island of Dzharilgach is the largest island in the Black Sea and is located only 8 km from Skadovsk. Its highlight is a long sandy beach, washed by the Black Sea and estuary. Dzharilgach is an ideal option for a quiet and secluded holiday. Peace, tranquility and beautiful scenery are the hallmark of those looking for deserted places to relax.

Oleshkiv sands in their current form appeared in the Kherson region due to long-term grazing of sheep in the same area. The place is the largest sand massif in Europe, which is formed by numerous dunes, and the diameter of the so-called desert is 15 km. In summer, the sand temperature can rise to 70 degrees. At a depth of about 300-400 m in the desert there is a lake with fresh water.

The historical and entertainment complex "Green Farms of Tavria" is suitable for entertainment in the Kherson region. The complex is formed by 45 farms with different purposes, ie Fisherman, Rifleman, Horse, etc. The entrance ticket costs only 25 UAH.
